I'm Mehdi Razi,

I’m the Co-Artistic Director of Papergang Theatre, Trustee of Music Theatre and associate at Arts Council of Wales. As an experienced producer and project manager, I have worked with organisations such as Welsh National Opera, Wales Millennium centre, Hijinx theatre, Sherman theatre and National Theatre Wales, to name a few. In directing capacity I worked with Wermland Opera Sweden, Everyman Theatre Cardiff, Hanover State Opera House, and The Other Room Theatre Cardiff as examples. I work in a variety of scales, ranges between main scale opera and theatre shows, to partnerships, artist development programmes, R & D.

My producing style is informed by the values, resources and activities and the process could be affected different factors. I deliver quality work informed by moral and social values of performing arts as a pro-active cultural medium. In my practice, the state of each project, values, ambitions, resources, creative visions, planning and organisation can influence my approach in producing different projects.

As a director, I invest in performances as clear ways to tell stories, make impact and exhibit artistic expression. I engage the audience in various layers of the story I tell. My work is informed by the genuine voices of the contemporary society, cultural values, openness in the creative process, collaboration, and fusion.

When I'm not working, I do gardening, countryside trips, travelling, reading, or doing body & mind workouts.
